Jon Kohler & Associates
2013 Sales: $50 – $100 Million
Who: Full-service firm operating throughout the Southeast with an expertise in plantations and ranches.
Wow: Sold the 7,000-acre Southern Heritage Plantation, an immaculately restored 1850s antebellum property in Albany, Georgia, regarded as one of the finest quail plantations to come to market recently.
Insight: “Today’s market offers exciting opportunities for a buyer, as the chance to own some of the most special, top-tier places in the best locations has not been available for generations. While we are seeing prices where we expect them, we have been surprisingly impressed with how fast the inventory of ‘A’ plantations and high-quality land is being reduced,” notes Kohler.
Pictured Above: After five years on the market, the historic Longpine Plantation near Thomasville, Georgia sold to Rick Leverich, whose family founded Texas-based Bourland & Leverich Supply Company. The $28 million sale included a main house, two manager’s residences, and five tenant houses with plenty of guest accommodations. The property has a 20-stall horse barn and a kennel large enough for 35 gundogs.
