For nearly a century, Airstream has been a symbol of American wanderlust, synonymous with timeless and sought-after aluminum travel trailers. As the world of recreational vehicles (RVs) has evolved, Airstream has continued to lead, now adding the 2025 Interstate 19X Touring Coach to its lineup—a lux-level, do-it-all model designed to travel the open road in style and comfort. With its Mercedes-Benz Sprinter base, compact footprint, and high-end amenities, the Interstate 19X adds more rugged capabilities to the paved road-focused Interstate 19 for those seeking an agile, adventure-ready coach that’s as suitable for weekend escapes as it is for longer explorations of America off the beaten path. It was perfect as an overnight getaway-mobile for our Gear Guide shoot at the Woodlife Ranch, in South Williamstown, MA.

Introducing the 2025 Airstream Interstate 19X: A Versatile Touring Coach

Built on the reliable Mercedes-Benz Sprinter platform, the Interstate 19X elevates Airstream’s reputation by blending off-road capabilities with high-end amenities. Designed for paved highways and rugged backroads alike, this touring coach is ideal for weekend getaways and extended explorations.

The Legacy of Airstream: Timeless Design Meets Innovation

Founded in 1931 by Wally Byam, Airstream is based in Jackson Center, Ohio. The 2025 Interstate 19X Touring Coach continues this manufacturer’s historic legacy, pairing premium features with a thoughtfully designed yet compact body. Several enhancements are added that bring more charm, functionality, and improved sustainability with state-of-the-art materials that reduce weight and improve fuel efficiency. The result reflects Airstream’s ongoing commitment to both comfort and environmental responsibility, now bringing a 12 percent reduction in emissions compared to previous models.

Compact Design, Big Adventure Potential

  • Perfectly Sized for National Parks
Built to fit in a single parking spot at a National Park and measuring a camping-compliant 19 feet long, the Interstate 19X is deceptively spacious, and its intelligent layout makes it feel far roomier than expected.
  • Off-Grid Ready Features
Onboard are a versatile range of off-grid capabilities, including solar charging options and lithium-ion batteries that power the interior systems for extended periods.

Powerful Performance for Any Terrain

Its 3.0-liter high-output Diesel V-6 and all-wheel-drive (AWD) drivetrain with all-terrain (A/T) tires give it the ability to handle slippery conditions, plus its raised suspension increases clearance on rough, uneven roads and at secluded sites. Tube steps, body cladding, brush guards, and additional exterior LED lighting for wilderness nights enhance the functional exterior. An optional E1 package adds extensive off-grid power improvements, morphing it into a true overlanding adventure rig. The Sprinter 2500 platform also gives the Interstate 19X an impressive and useful 5,000-pound tow rating; it comes standard with a hitch and seven-pin plug, making it a popular toy hauler, too.

Luxury Interior Features for Maximum Comfort

Drivers and passengers are treated to premium leather seating, ambient lighting, and high-end stainless steel kitchen amenities, including a compact but fully-functional kitchen with a microwave, two-burner stove, and a refrigerator. The coach’s entertainment system includes a 24-inch HD TV and a surround sound system, ensuring that even remote destinations can feel like home.

A convertible seating area offers space for up to four people, and the power-folding rear sofa converts into a comfortable sleeping area for two. The onboard wet bath and a 24-gallon freshwater tank, a 16-gallon greywater tank, and a 9.7-gallon blackwater tank—a rare find in a vehicle this size—allow for complete independence from campgrounds and external facilities.

Advanced Technology and Safety Features

Every Interstate 19X comes standard with an uplevel technology package, adding a high-resolution LED control system that manages lighting, temperature, and power settings. Entertainment desires are met by the integrated robust sound system with Bluetooth and HDMI connectivity; every model also includes a Wi-Fi router for remote internet access.

Also onboard is a high-tech suite of safety and convenience features, including adaptive cruise control, collision prevention assist, lane-keeping assist, and parking sensors. The 10.25-inch MBUX touchscreen, powered by Mercedes, offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, making navigation and connectivity seamless.
