Bell Helicopter 407 GXi: Premier Aircraft for VIP & Corporate Travel
The Bell 407GXi is an excellent aircraft for corporate and VIP transportation, providing both comfort and speed while safely getting passengers to their destination,” said Lane Evans, managing director, North America. “This aircraft has had many successes around the world and supports a variety of missions.”
For almost 30 years and over seven million proven global flight hours, the Bell 407 series has not just been the ideal aircraft choice for emergency services and governments, but also for private pilots who want an unparalleled combination of carrying passengers in comfort while flying one of the slickest, most maneuverable helicopters on the market.
Evolving a Legendary Helicopter
In 2008, the Bell 407GXi, a modernized version of the 407GXP, added a new interior and increased payload without compromising the modular design that makes it a workhorse for fleets and an aerial sports car for private owners. A new technology feature in the cockpit, the Garmin G1000H NXi integrated avionics, was carried over from the Bell 505, increasing the pilot’s situational awareness and making the upgrade from the Bell 505 to the 407GXi nearly seamless.
Interior Features of the Bell 407GXi: Executive Comfort
Even though the passenger configuration is already comfortable, upgrading to the factory’s Executive or Corporate trim brings plush seats, converts the front-facing three-across bench to a pair of individual seats with an occasional jump seat in the middle, and adds 100-percent cut-pile wool carpet along with other cosmetic improvements and passenger amenities. These packages, available in two color-matched options, include additional soundproofing.
The Garmin G1000H NXi integrated avionics suite includes dual multifunction 10.4-inch high-definition displays, which reduce visual clutter in the cockpit. It works seamlessly with Garmin flight planning mobile apps, allowing users to sync when the system starts up.
Performance Features: Power, Speed, and Range of the Bell 407GXi
Four 17.5-foot fiberglass rotor blades are lightweight and reduce vibration. The 862 SHP Rolls-Royce Allison M250-C47E/4 engine with FADEC (Full-Authority Digital Engine Control) was one of the biggest upgrades in the predecessor GX, delivering exceptional hot and high performance, a cruise speed of 133 knots (246 KPH, 153 MPH), and a top speed of 162 MPH under ideal unladen conditions. Range at long-range cruise (LRC) hits 392 miles and drops to 365 miles with a 1,250-pound load.
Operational Efficiency: Affordable Costs and Extensive Infrastructure
It’s impressive that this high-performance platform boasts surprisingly reasonable running costs, which is a credit to the well-developed infrastructure and parts availability of a popular, long-running model.
