James King has facilitated over a million acres of conservation real estate transactions in Texas, specializing in the Trans-Pecos region of far West Texas, the Texas Gulf Coast, and the Edwards Plateau. During his 19-year tenure as the Director of Land Protection for the Nature Conservancy and West Texas Program Manager, James amassed unparalleled experience in conservation real estate transactions. Since relocating to Fort Davis in 1998 with his wife Tammy and their two young children, James has embraced small-town values and deepened his relationships and knowledge of this vast region and its people. As conservation real estate owners, the King family has firsthand experience in many aspects of owning conservation property.

He is a staunch advocate of community-based conservation and has contributed to many well-known protected lands. In the Trans-Pecos region, James spearheaded efforts to create the Davis Mountains Preserve, one of the state’s most pristine and compelling conservation assets.

James also serves on the Borderlands Research Advisory Board, the Board of Visitors of McDonald Observatory, and the Devils River Conservancy. He is the past Chair of the Big Bend Ranch State Park Advisory Board, where he collaborated with other volunteers to support the needs of this vast 300,000-acre state wilderness park and open it for public use.
