Collins Timber Acquires 58,000 Acres in Northern California

Collins Timber Company announced the largest timberland purchase in the company’s 167-year history. The acquisition of 58,000 acres of Northern California forestland from Shasta Forests Timberlands includes tracts of land in Lassen, Modoc, Shasta, and Sierra Counties. “We are excited and proud of the opportunity to continue stewarding these forests with a balanced focus on forest health, resiliency, and productivity,” said Collins VP of Resources Galen Collins Smith. Just over a year ago, the Dixie Fire burned 963,309 acres in the surrounding area. Collins President and CEO Eric Schooler called the  company’s acquisition “a significant post-Dixie-Fire commitment to log supply for the Chester Sawmill, our employees, and the company.” With the purchase, Oregon-based Collins now manages over 370,000 acres nationwide with more than half of that total — 188,000 acres — in California.
