The Montana Land Board approved an $8.2 million purchase of 5,700 acres in the Big Snowy Mountains 20 miles south of Lewistown. The property will be managed by the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks (FWP) as the Big Snowy Mountains Wildlife Management Area. The seller, Shodair Children’s Hospital, received the property as a donation from the Forest Allen Estate in 2019 and will use the proceeds from the sale to fund construction costs. The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation advised the hospital during its presale preparations. It has also pledged $250,000 in start-up funding for infrastructure and management. Read more HERE.
