Kevin and Patty Crisp, owners of the Whiskey Run Ranch, have partnered with Placer Land Trust to permanently protect their 197-acre working cattle ranch in Northern California near Lincoln. The Crisps purchased the property in 2016 and discovered that its high-quality pastureland had been severely overgrazed. The couple then partnered with Placer Land Trust, an organization providing conservation funding to California farmers and ranchers interested in protecting their agricultural land, to help restore their land. Placer Land Trust purchased an agricultural conservation easement on the Whiskey Run Ranch. The agreement will allow the Crisps and subsequent landowners to continue as a family-owned livestock ranch while permanently protecting the property. The easement will also protect the Racoon Creek corridor, an important migration route.
