The Sheridan Family, in partnership with the Colorado Cattlemen’s Agricultural Land Trust, has permanently conserved their 1727-acre L Bar Slash Ranch. This addition to the trust’s protected private lands — which include more than 36,000 acres of the Upper White River Valley — has taken on critical importance in the face of increased rural residential development. “Knowing the property will stay available to the agriculture industry into the future is very important to us,” said Kelly Sheridan. The landscape of the L Bar Slash ranch serves as a migratory corridor and  habitat for a variety of species, including some of the largest elk and deer herds in the US. Three creeks crucial to the White River watershed flow through the ranchland, and 13 ponds — water for both livestock and wildlife — dot the property.
